Celebrities for Hire

Avory Celebrity Access is the only Spanish agency specialized in the hiring of international celebrities for many types of event. “Inviting” them to a party costs 18.000 euros, at least.

The telephone numbers of the most famous international stars can be found in company owner Sandra García-Sanjuan’s agenda. She can contact any celebrity from New York or Los Angeles in just twenty four hours, guaranteeing their presence in all types of act in any European or Latin American country. Of course, payment must be made in advance and although the quantities involved seem astronomical the money is really only celebrity spare change. “An actor such as Harrison Ford who earns more than 18 million euros for a film does not attend an event for the money,” explains García. “He does it because he knows you, and you present him with an interesting project. He’s not going to leave his agenda in the hands of just anybody for two days. What’s more, attending a Chanel party is not the same as visiting a town to inaugurate a shop.” It would be impossible to demand the latter of Prince Charles of England or Prince Albert of Monaco. In these cases, “we coordinate their involvement and attendance of an act through donations made to their funds, or causes that are important to them, always on the understanding that the event meets their requirements,” she adds.

Her close proximity to these figures makes García the protagonist of many entertaining stories, such as thinking that Richard Gere wanted to get romantically involved with her when he winked during the Moscow Film Festival. In reality “he was squinting when he spoke to me because he is short sighted and wasn’t wearing contact lenses.” Other stories aren’t, however, quite so funny. When Grace Jones visited Spain the actress-singer refused to do what had been agreed (launch a brand of Cognac) until she had received fees of 24.000 euros in dollars, instead of in the European currency. “We were able to change the money by going to various banks, and we resolved the misunderstanding, but during this time she locked herself in the bathroom for two hours,” remembers Sandra.

In terms of national celebrities, rates vary from 3.000 to 18.000 euros (men nearly always earn more). The most expensive celebrity is Isabel Preysler, a considerable famous figure alongside Inés Sastre, Esther Cañadas, Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz and Joaquin Cortés. Figures such as Bertín Osborne, the Great Wyoming and Ana Obregón are also highly valued. Information: Avory Celebrity Access-Free phone. Tel: 93 476 29 99
